Building a budget
You do not have to write your budget from scratch or keep it in Excel. Start with what you have and work with items, quantities and prices that match what is actually done on site.
Break the build down into items
Construction budgetSplit the build into individual work and materials. For each item you add a quantity and a price, so you can see what the planned total is made of.
ViewFind the price of work or materials
Price list of work and materialsSearch for a type of work or a material and use the listed price as a starting point for your budget. For a specific build, you adjust it to the material you choose and to the supplier's quote.
ViewBrowse materials from manufacturers
Material manufacturersA manufacturer's catalogue lists materials with a product code, unit of measure and an indicative price excluding VAT. It helps you choose a material and estimate its cost in your budget.

Bill of quantitiesUse the dimensions to work out how much work and material the job needs. Once you add prices to the quantities, you have the basis for a budget.

How to start a budgetHave a budget from your designer in Excel? Upload it and check the items Quotioo recognises. If you are starting from scratch, choose a template or describe what you want to build, and Quotioo suggests a first list of items.
ViewKeeping the build on track
When you choose a builder, you compare quotes. During the build you record changes and actual costs, and you can always see how far you are from the original plan.
Compare quotes for the same brief
Supplier quotesSend suppliers the same items and quantities without your prices. When a quote arrives, you check the price and any items the supplier left unpriced. Received quotes can be compared side by side in the Construction and Construction Pro plans.
ViewRecord extra work
Changes during constructionHas the builder proposed extra work? Record its scope, reason and price in a change order. Once it is approved, a new version of the budget is created and the original is kept.
ViewRecord receipts and invoices
Actual costsTake a photo of a receipt or upload an invoice. Quotioo reads the details and suggests where it belongs in your budget, and you check and confirm it. You can then compare the approved budget with the recorded costs for each item and each part of the build.
