About Quotioo

A budget is not a document you write once and file away

Quotioo is an app for people who manage their own build or renovation. It helps you prepare a budget, compare quotes from tradespeople and track changes and costs while the work is under way.

Quotioo is built and run by Rosi Group, s. r. o., a company based in Slovakia.

Why Quotioo exists

Nobody can tell you the exact final price in advance

The short answer

Quotioo exists so that throughout the build you know where you started financially, what has changed and where you stand today. There is often no single precise answer to how much a build or renovation will cost. Costs can, however, be planned and kept under control. So Quotioo does not promise you a final price before work starts. It gives you a tool that helps you understand your costs for the whole of the build.

What happens to the budget during the build

The original budget starts to change very quickly. Not because it was wrong, but because a building site is a living thing.

  • New work appears

Demolition reveals something different from the drawings, and an item nobody planned for is added.

  • Material prices change

Several months pass between drawing up the budget and buying the materials, and the price is no longer the same.

  • Something is done differently

A method, product or procedure changes. The budget item then no longer matches what was actually built.

  • Small expenses add up

Dozens of smaller purchases, deliveries and extras that mean nothing on their own but together make a noticeable sum.

The budget in a spreadsheet often stops matching reality. That is why Quotioo treats it as a financial plan for the build that you keep updating, not as a document from the first week.

How you work with Quotioo

Start in the way that suits you

Build your budget from scratch, bring the one you already have, pick a template or describe your project.

  • Your own budget

Put it together item by item. Every piece of work and material has its own quantity, unit of measure and price.

  • Import from Excel

Do you have a budget from your designer in Excel? Upload it and check the recognised items. You do not have to retype the whole spreadsheet.

    How to start a budget

  • Template

Pick a ready-made list of work and enter the dimensions. Before you use it, check the scope and add any work your project needs that is missing.

  • Project description

Write what you want to build or renovate. Quotioo suggests a first list of items, which you then adjust to your project.

And then you keep working with it

Changes do not erase the original plan

Has the builder proposed extra work? Record its scope, reason and price in a change order. Once approved, a new version of the budget is created and the original is kept.

Changes during construction

You record costs against items

Assign invoices and receipts to budget items. For every item and every part of the build you then see the difference from the approved budget.

For new builds and renovations

You decide how detailed the budget is

A budget can contain a few dozen basic items or be a detailed itemised budget split by the individual parts of the build.

  • Building a family house

From the foundation slab to final sign-off, split into stages that follow one another.

  • Flat renovation

One budget for the whole flat or separate budgets for individual rooms.

  • Bathroom refit

A smaller scope, which makes keeping track of materials and extra items all the more important.

  • Loft conversion and extension

Work on an existing house, where the scope is often only settled once the work is under way.

  • Garage and smaller buildings

If ten items are enough, make ten items. Even a small build produces extra work that is worth keeping an eye on.

  • Work for a customer

Are you a tradesperson or a small firm? Prepare a budget of work that shows your customer what the price is made of.

Your data stays useful

Over time the budget becomes the history of your build

A budget is more than a list of prices. It keeps a record of what was planned, what was actually done and how much each part cost.

  1. What was planned

The original items, quantities and prices you started the build with.

  2. What was actually done

Changes during the build, extra work and how the budget was gradually adjusted.

  3. What it cost

Costs from invoices and receipts assigned to the individual parts of the build.

Where this helps later

  • When deciding on the next stages of the build, once you know how well your estimates have held up so far.
  • When comparing quotes, because you have your own figures to rely on.
  • When planning your next build or renovation, where your previous experience will come in handy.

Plainly put

What Quotioo promises and what it does not

What you can expect from Quotioo

  • Planned costs and actual costs side by side.
  • You will see where costs drift from the plan while there is still time to act.
  • You can update the budget as you go, without rewriting the whole spreadsheet.
  • After the build you will have a usable record of what everything cost.

What you cannot expect from Quotioo

  • An exact final price before the build starts.
  • A replacement for the design drawings, the bill of quantities or your agreement with the builder.
  • A decision on which quote to accept.
  • A guarantee that no extra work will come up during the build.

Yes. Upload your existing budget, check the recognised items and carry on working with it without retyping anything. The free plan includes one import a month.
